But then throughout my hair care studies, I found several tips on how to get thicker hair naturally that I’m about to share with you now.
How To Get Thicker Hair Naturally 2021
If you want thick hair, you should take care of your hair internally and externally. Simply using hair growth products will not give you results.
You can make small changes in your lifestyle and habits to see a positive difference in your hair.
Although the results could take some time to reflect, these are often permanent, unlike hair extensions. Some of my favorite tips and tricks to make my hair thicker are:
Eat Healthily

If your body is not healthy, you cannot expect thick and luscious hair. Haircare also means that you supply your body with the vitamins and nutrients that are important for stimulating hair growth.
You have to make sure that your diet includes an adequate amount of minerals, proteins, and vitamins.
Some of the most important nutrients for healthy hair are Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C Iron, Zinc, and proteins.
Sometimes sudden changes in your diet can also trigger hair thinning when you stop eating certain foods.
Make sure to include foods like eggs, fatty fish, spinach, nuts, avocadoes, oysters, meat, etc. in your meals for thick hair.
If you are suffering from hair fall, adding more of these ingredients to your food may help in stopping it.
Use essential oils

Essential oils are some of the best ingredients for the hair. They smell heavenly and have a lot of benefits. One of my favorite essential oils for thickening my hair is rosemary essential oil.
It is packed with antioxidants and helps in combating hair thinning and greying. It also helps in improving the blood circulation on your scalp and stimulating hair growth.
Peppermint essential oil is also a perfect choice for improving your hair growth. Thyme essential oil is good for scalp massages and encourages hair growth.
If your hair is thinning out due to dandruff or bacterial infections, then tea tree oil is a good choice.
Do not apply the essential oils directly to your scalp. Dilute it in a carrier oil like almond oil or coconut oil before applying it to your hair and scalp.
Stay away from sulfates

Shampoos or conditioners with sulfates are a strict no-no. Although they help in building lather and cleaning your scalp, long-term use of such products can cause a lot of damage to your hair.
First of all, it removes all the natural oils from your hair in the process of cleaning. This makes your hair dry and fragile. Sulfates are also really harsh on the scalp and could potentially damage the cuticles.
The scalp inflammation caused by sulfates can lead to hair thinning and hair fall. Switch to sulfate-free shampoos for better hair and scalp health.
Don’t overwash

Every hair is different and requires different washing schedules. You have to understand your hair needs first before deciding how often to wash it.
When your hair gets overly dry and lacks the natural oils and moisture after shampooing, it is a sign of overwashing. You only have to wash your hair when it gets oily greasy.
Otherwise, you can wait a few days between washes. When you lose the natural oils from your hair, it becomes dehydrated and weak which makes your hair thin.
Use the right water temperature

Hot water and cold water react differently to your hair so it is important to understand their effects on it.
A long hot shower can be really tempting at the end of the day but it is best to keep your hair away from it.
Although warm water can open up your cuticles and help in thoroughly cleansing your hair, it has its share of drawbacks too.
Hot water can stress out your hair and strip off the natural oils. It will make your hair more frizzy and dry.
Your hair follicles tend to loosen up and the hair might fall off. Cold water, on the other hand, will help in retaining moisture but can make your hair look flat.
The best temperature to wash your hair is lukewarm water that is neither too hot nor cold.
Take care of your scalp

Maintaining your scalp and taking proper care of it is essential for healthy hair growth. You have to ensure that the ph levels on your scalp are balanced.
When you use a lot of products and tools on your hair, it affects your scalp. There will also be product build-ups and other irritations.
You have to make sure that your scalp is free of sweat, excess oil, product residues, and bacteria. Your scalp needs exfoliation and massage at least once a week to be healthy.
You must also make sure that your scalp has enough moisture and is protected well from the sun. This will create a good environment for healthy hair growth.
Reduce heat styling

When you subject your hair to a lot of heat tools, the extreme temperature can take a toll on it. The heat can strip off the natural oils from your scalp and make it fragile.
This will lead to a lot of breakages and thinning. Of course, you can use a hair dryer or a flat iron once in a while but long-term usage of such tools can lead to irreversible thinning for the hair.
If you are going to use such tools, you have to make sure that your hair is completely protected. A heat protectant spray or cream can create a protective shield around your hair that will only cause minimal heat damage.
You should also make sure that your hair is completely dry before styling otherwise it could get damaged really fast
Take supplements

Hair supplements are great for increasing the volume and thickness of your hair. They are available in the form of capsules or gummy bears and contain a lot of essential nutrients.
Some of the most popular hair nutrients in these supplements include fish oils, collagen powders, biotin, herbal ingredients, Vitamin A, B, c, and minerals like selenium and zinc.
They help in making up for any nutrient deficiency in our body by providing an adequate supply.
They don’t even taste like pills. Most of them come with a semi-solid jelly-like consistency and taste like candy.
Brush your hair regularly
Brushing your hair has numerous benefits. The most important of them all is that it helps in stimulating your scalp. When you brush your hair, you gently massage your scalp.
This improves the blood circulation on your scalp and creates a good environment for hair growth.
Brushing your hair also makes it moisturized and shiny because it distributes the natural oil throughout your hair.
Sometimes a strand that has detached from your scalp might get stuck with the rest of the hair. Brushing helps in removing such loose hair.
You can use a wide-toothed comb, made of wood to remove tangles while stimulating your scalp.
Make sure that you are gentle with your hair and do not cause any accidental breakage when you are brushing.
Use a thickening shampoo
When your hair is dirty and greasy, it gets weighed down and looks flat. A shampoo generally helps in volumizing your hair after getting rid of this dirt.
But a thickening shampoo can do more. These shampoos contain a host of ingredients like biotin, green tea, pumpkin seed oil, caffeine, saw palmetto, rosemary oil, etc that can accelerate hair growth for you.
You should also make sure that your shampoo and conditioner do not contain harsh ingredients like sulfates, parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, etc that can lead to hair thinning.
It should also be free of ingredients that could weigh down your hair.
Avoid chemical treatments
Chemical treatments such as hair coloring, Rebonding, keratin treatment, etc have a lot of side effects that you should be wary of.
They might help you temporarily but these can prove to be harmful in the long run.
These treatments include a lot of harsh chemicals and exposure to extreme temperatures that are harmful to your hair.
Your hair loses its immunity and becomes vulnerable to breakage and thinning.
Some people who are sensitive to such harsh ingredients found in these treatments also get bad reactions like hair falling off, scalp irritations, redness, inflammations, etc.
So it is best to steer clear from these treatments.
The secret to thick, beautiful hair? It needs to be healthy from the root to the tip. So the key is to take proper care of your hair and create a favorable environment for healthy growth.
